Eduspaze nurtures the vibrant edtech startup ecosystem in Singapore and Southeast Asia by helping early stage startups strengthen their products, accelerate their growth, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve learning outcomes.
Challenge
Eduspaze organises its renowned three-month accelerator programme for early-stage edtech startups twice a year to support the development of innovative solutions that can improve the education landscape in the region. As part of the programme, the startups receive seed funding and mentorship from industry experts, access to a network of investors, and opportunities to expand their businesses in the region.
Eduspaze wanted to emphasise the importance of human-centred design on the success of the startups’ digital products for the startups in each cohort.
Solution
Design a workshop on how human-centred UX design creates a competitive advantage
Results
Founders learn to empathise
Startup founders learned all about empathy, how to apply it in user interviews so they can translate that into insights. Empathy is at the heart of the creative problem-solving process that is human-centred design. The process must always begin with the people they are designing for, and end with testing new solutions tailor-made to suit their customers’ needs.
Founders appreciate finding the ‘right’ problem to solve
Startup founders also gained an understanding about the process of finding the right problem and then finding the right solution for it as a way of differentiating themselves in the market and building a digital product that not only meets users’ needs but also delights them when using the product.
Founders realise the importance of UX design
The majority of startup founders in the Eduspaze cohorts found 55 Minutes’ human-design workshop to be worth their time, with 94% of those who filled out the survey saying they would highly recommend it to other startup founders and their executing teams.
