ClassRanked is an American educational technology company that offers higher education enterprise software solutions for course evaluation, reporting and survey management.
ClassRanked is on a mission to provide universities with a straightforward, clean, end-to-end course evaluation platform that provides reporting to help them meet their goals for recruitment, retention, and improved student and faculty experiences.
Challenge
When the young founders started their startup in 2019, their goal was to look into ranking for universities to help students pick their best classes. But as their business model evolved, they shifted to providing data and insights to universities to modernise their feedback cycle and leverage it to increase enrollment and retention. This move meant the founders needed a brand identity that would convey their professionalism so that their new primary customers would take them seriously.

Design a logo that projects the credibility, professionalism and trustworthiness of the company and aligns with the new direction of the brand
Results
A logo that embodies the brand
We presented the client four designs and they picked the logo concept that closely aligns with the brand’s intent to be perceived as an innovative, technology-driven and people-first company. This design expresses the idea of offering solutions to enable data-informed decisions. The idea of ranking and data bits are represented through stacked dash like patterns that run across the logo. The integration of figurines also suggests that humans are an integral part of the product’s mission and vision.
A consistent brand identity
Aside from the logo mark, we also established a brand system for ClassRanked – defining a range of colour and type systems that complement the new logo mark. This makes it easier for a brand to maintain its visual identity across different applications and channels.
An animated logo that’s memorable
The team experimented with different movements and keyframes to produce a simple yet dynamic logo animation that reinforces the brand's identity and make it more memorable to viewers. The narrative behind the logo is based on the idea of processing through strings of data to deliver optimal data-informed results for the consumers.
The new logo presents the brand in a professional and cohesive manner, creating a sense of reliability and credibility with regards to delivering the core benefit of ClassRanked: enabling universities to acquire and use relevant data for meaningful progress in the real world.
