Growth & Partnerships Lead (9-Month Contract)

Job description

We’re 55 Minutes, we use empathy-driven research and design to solve real-world problems.

Right now, we're at a pivotal stage: looking to grow our revenue through new offerings, partnerships, and collaborations, and sharpening our niche in inclusive design. We’re looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial thinker to help us shape new opportunities, reach the right people, and turn ideas into successful business engagements.

This is not a traditional sales or BD role. It’s ideal for someone who sees possibility when others see uncertainty, and wants to co-build something valuable with a small, values-led team.

Core responsibilities

1. Strategic positioning & outreach

  • Identify high-potential sectors aligned with our strengths (edtech, social innovation, inclusive design)

  • Map out key players and decision-makers in those spaces

  • Shape and send strategic outreach (emails, LinkedIn, warm intros)

  • Tailor value propositions to different segments and entry points

2. New business & revenue generation

  • Propose and test new offerings (workshops, product partnerships, consulting, audits)

  • Drive the journey from interest → discovery → paid engagement

  • Strategic with producing relevant pitch decks, proposals, and landing pages

  • Suggest lean, low-cost ways to validate ideas and markets

3. Partnerships & ecosystem building

  • Initiate collaborations with aligned partners (development firms, consultancies, marketing agencies, NGOs)

  • Explore co-hosted events, programs, or joint initiatives

  • Help strengthen our presence in ecosystems that value design and impact

  • Identify relevant events or platforms for us to participate in, gather insights, and build meaningful connections

4. Grants & funding opportunities

  • Research and shortlist relevant grant schemes and innovation funds

  • Support proposal drafting or positioning our work in line with funder priorities

  • Stay on top of timelines, eligibility, and partnership opportunities

5. Support our inclusive design growth strategy (In Progress)

  • Identify mission-aligned organisations (accessibility, disability inclusion, digital equity)

  • Help position us as a studio building meaningful expertise in inclusive UX

  • Explore co-creation, pilot projects, or joint initiatives that support both impact and visibility

Who you are

  • Strategic and action-oriented, with an entrepreneurial mindset

  • Strong connector who can grow our presence in sectors like edtech, social innovation, or inclusive design

  • Clear communicator with a strong instinct for messaging and positioning that attracts the right clients and partners

  • Comfortable working independently and testing new ideas

  • 4+ years in partnerships, business development, or marketing

  • Bonus: Experience in design, tech, or purpose-driven sectors

Engagement terms

  • Contract: 9-month engagement focused on opportunity discovery, outreach, and early-stage revenue generation

  • Review & continuation: Role may be renewed or evolved into a longer-term engagement, depending on business needs and mutual fit — to be reviewed near the end of the contract

  • Compensation: Fixed monthly retainer, with performance-based bonuses for meaningful traction (paid engagements, partnerships, validated offers)

  • Flexibility: Remote-first. You’ll have autonomy over your schedule, with trust built around accountability

  • Availability: Responsive during core hours (Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm SGT), and available for scheduled check-ins or ad hoc in-person meetings

How to apply

To help us understand your fit and thinking style, please submit:

  1. A written response (max 200 words) answering:
“What kind of growth opportunities do you think a human-centred design studio like ours should explore — and why?”

  2. A short 1–2 min video introducing yourself and sharing why this role excites you.
(Casual, selfie-style is fine — no need for polish. We’re looking for realness, not performance.)

  3. Include your CV or LinkedIn profile
